free
every one of us is tied up to a dock
swimming, stretching bungee cords that tie us up
sweat to stretch, it builds potential energy
muscles give, a ragdoll snapped back to routine
broken bones heal stronger, fight against the waves
'til the rope breaks, propels the other way
flung so far from tethers, lost at sea
dangling half a rope - is this what we call free?
lash your leash up, anchor to stability
'til the tide turns, behaves nonsensically
but you're safe with structure, wisely you did choose
for your cord's bisected, shackles not so loose
sea's too salty
sky turns red
waves spin circles
in your head
